just came back from holiday yesterday. was very fun. wish it lasted longer... anw, here it is:
Saturday
Woke up at 3.30am. bathed, changed, then set of for malaysia with my family and grandmothers. reached the checkpoints at around 4am. Was damn tired, so slept all the way. When I woke up, it was 7.30am, and we were in muar. Had a sort of kway chap, but instead of having kway teow, we had rice. After a brief breakfast, we went off. After a few reststops along the way, reached ipoh at 1.45pm. then had lunch at the restoran oversea. Had pork ribs soup with lotus root, also had the ipoh how fan, and also had a special type of chinese fragrant tea – heong peen. There was also tao fu, braised in a nice gravy. Also had fried chicken with onions. The sauce was quite nice.
After lunch, we drove around ipoh, then checked in at the station hotel majestic, in the old part of the town, where all the buildings were colonial-ised. Near it was the lasallian school of st. michael’s institution. Watched tv, slept a bit more, and had a bath, then left at around 6pm for dinner. Went to a street where they sold nice pong piahs, durian cakes and stuff like that. Bought tons of stuff, then ate dinner of tao gay chicken, a plate of gizzard, liver and heart, drank tao huay chui, and herbal tea. When we were ordering the stuff, a few beggars came up to the table, but the old lady that was taking our order was quite fierce with them and quite loudly said ‘hang hoi! Hang hoi!’ which was like ‘go away’ in cantonese.
After eating, we walked around, then as it started to rain, we went back to the car. On the way back, quite near from where we had our dinner, we spotted another nice place to eat, so we stopped and had a sort of ‘second’ dinner consisting of chee chap chok, sesame paste, pak tong koh, a type of rice keuh, and ice cream soda. After dinner, went to Jusco, where we walked around and bought fruits and stuff. After that, went back to the hotel. Reached back at around 10.30pm(came back quite late cos we got lost) had fruits, drank orange juice and then had a bath and brushed teeth. Watched tv, then went to sleep at around 12am.
Sunday
Woke up at 7am, bathed, then had our first breakfast at the hotel, consisting of a small buffet. Checked out, then went to foh shan restaurant, at ‘theatre’(in english) street. Had dim sum and the ‘special’ ipoh curry bread. Drove around town again, then decided to skip lunch and go straight to KL. For the first part of the journey, we too the old road, and passed a few temples that were built into the cliffs. Turned out into the highway at tapah. Took us about 4 hours to get to KL, got lost on the way again. It was like this. We were heading to KL from the NORTH, but we decided to leave the highway about 30km for KL, so that we wouldn’t get caught in the midday jams in town. However, we missed a turning, and got totally lost again, and then, when we finally got our bearings, we entered KL for the SOUTH. Haha. Checked in at the Holiday Villa service apartments, it was raining, so we waited. Went to the gym for a while, swam, then bathed and got ready.
At 6pm, we left for jalan alor. Had the first part of our dinner at the famous beef kway teow, then had the second part consisting of or jian(oyster omelet), cuttlefish with kang kong, the KL hokkien mee, chee chap chok again, and also san ha min. third part was mango ice and cheng tng. Later, we walked around then drove back to the hotel. On the way back, we got lost again. Haha. It seemed that everytime we drove in KL, we always got lost. Finally we reached the hotel at 9.45pm. went up to out room, then went to the gym for a while. When the gym closed, went back, watched tv, bathed, then went to sleep.
Monday
Woke up at 7am. Got ready and everything, then drove to have breakfast at china town. Went to see the market, then walked to petaling street, where we had chee chap chok again, chee chong fan, raw fish for the porridge and a bowl of fried intestines. Then went back to the car, and hotel. Reached the hotel around 10am. Changed, then went for a workout at the gym. After that, went for a swim.
At 11.30am, got out, bathed then checked out of the hotel. Had our first lunch at the tai thong restaurant at the selangor dredging building, where we had fan tui, fried pigeon, and a few other courses. After that, went to jalan tiga for the fish and water chestnut thingy there. Unfortunately, the water chestnut thingy was out of stock. Ate till we were bursting, then left for singapore. The three days had passed so fast. Took us about 4 hours to reach Johor Bahru. Had dinner there, then cut hair. On the way back home dropped of popo and granny. Reached home at 10pm. Mopped the floor, unpacked, and then went to sleep.
